Daryl K. Branscombe
Daryl K. Branscombe is the CEO and founder of the Coalition of Concerned Citizens. He is a former teacher, but has spent most of his career in the commercial real estate development business. He has been involved in many provincial and municipal community services throughout his career. He was one of the founding members of the Knowledge Park in Fredericton. As well he was driving force behind the construction of Hospice House in Fredericton. He has written and published two books, and established two scholarships in memory of his sons at the University of New Brunswick. In 2017 he received a Doctoris in Litteris degree from the University of New Brunswick. He lives in Fredericton with his wife Angela.
David Besner
Dr. David Besner , with a BSc. In Chemical Engineering (UNB) and a Ph.D. in Environmental Health Engineering (U. of Texas), taught at Youngstown State University, worked for Imperial Oil, and retired as the Assistant Deputy Minister of New Brunswick Environment and Local Government. He then established D. Besner & Associates, consulting in management and environment.
He is the author of a book on air pollution control, and has served on numerous provincial, national and international committees. He was a former Chair of the Muriel McQueen Fergusson Foundation, and the President of the New Brunswick Energy Institute.
Diane Murray RNBN
As a life long citizen of New Brunswick Diane has spent the past 40 years in the health care field. As a Professional Registered Nurse, she has worked in acute care hospitals, community and in healthcare leadership. Always active in their community, Diane and her husband Derrick Murray have recently returned to rural roots with a move to Lakeville Corner where they are active in the Grand Lake Wellness Network, the Four Lakes Seniors Club, the Women’s Institute and Lakeville Corner Baptist Church. Diane is passionate about understanding the underlying determinants of health and helping build stronger vibrant communities.
Maurice Harquail
Maurice Harquail resides in Fredericton. He attended St. Thomas University, University of Moncton and University of Toronto Insurance Institute. He is a former member of Parlaiment-House of Commons and has been a member and/or chairman of a multitude of Federal and Provincial committees. In addition to his public service, Maurice acted as an arbitrator for settling claims for general insurance companies.
Chris Treadwell
Chris Treadwell has been an educator for 40 years. He has been a principal for 31 years, of schools at all levels, including a high school that was rated as one of 20 exemplary high schools in Canada by the Canadian Education Association. He has been recognized by the Canadian Association as one of Canada’s Outstanding principals.
He has been an adjunct instructor at both UNB and St. Thomas. He has consulted for the Inter-American Development Bank in Trinidad and Tobago ,and Barbados.
Marie Cashion
Marie is originally from Boston where she started her teaching career at a time and place where the students were all Black and the teachers were all White. Fortunately, that has changed!
After moving to New Brunswick, she obtained a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology and Counselling and was hired by the Faculty of Education in the area of Special Education. Besides teaching, she became the Director of the Learning Center, which assessed students who faced challenges in school. Some who did not “fit in” proved to be gifted. As a result of this experience, she devoted much of her career to meeting the needs of this group. This included establishing a summer program for teachers, after school and weekend activities for children, establishing a group for parents and generally serve as an advocate for this group.
G. A. (Sandy) Robertson
Sandy started numerous businesses in New Brunswick including a mobile home sales business, real estate development including mobile home parks, residential and commercial real estate and a publishing business. His early construction background led him to his interest in the water and wastewater industry; first distributing pipe, valves and fittings, then on to the water and wastewater treatment field.
Sandy has been actively involved in his industry associations as Chair of the Atlantic Canada Section of the American Water Works Association and President of the Road Builders Association of New Brunswick and has been recognized by ACWWA with the FULLER AWARD (formerly the Water Utility Man of the Year) and he is an Honorary Member and Past Honorary President of the Road Builders Association.
Kara Angus
Kara Angus, president of Go-Go Group Inc., a multi-divisional company focused on childcare, gymnastics, and child entertainment began her journey at the University of New Brunswick (UNB), obtaining a BBA in 2005 and an MBA in 2006. In 2006, Kara won 1st place ($20,000 prize) in the entrepreneurship competition from the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation and started her business soon after. Go-Go Group Inc. has since grown to service thousands of children and employs 100+ young leaders.
Along with being the founder of her ever-expanding business, Kara is also highly involved in her community. She is a part time instructor within the Faculty of Management at UNB, where she is known for delivering real-life business experience through courses in Marketing and Entrepreneurship.
Further devoting herself to entrepreneurship, Kara is an order member of the Wallace McCain Institute Entrepreneurial Leaders Program; a program designed to give high potential entrepreneurs what they need to succeed. In addition, Kara has been a volunteer with the local Junior Achievement council as an ambassador and member of the Board of Directors since 2007. Kara also volunteers at 40+ of Go-Go-sponsored annual charitable events.
Throughout Kara’s entrepreneurial journey, she has been honored to received several awards including: RBC Women Entrepreneur of the Year Award – Atlantic Recipient & National Finalist (2017), the Award of Distinction, Entrepreneur of the Year, Atlantic Canada CBDC (2016), New Brunswick Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award – N.B. CBDC (2016), Intermediate Business Award – Fredericton Chamber of Commerce (2012), Emerging Enterprise Business Award – Saint John Board of Trade (2011), and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award – N.B. CBDC (2011).
Patricia Seaman
Patricia Seaman is Principal Consultant of Terre Neuve Consulting. She is a results-driven strategist who believes in supporting the community, having a fulfilling career and improving the area for the next generation of citizens.
Patricia has had the pleasure of connecting business owners, innovators & researchers to industry & government for over two decades. Through engaging with stakeholders she is able to connect thought to action.
With her free time, Patricia serves on the Kidney Foundation of Canada’s Atlantic Board Executive Committee, the United Way Forever Fund Board of Directors, Research Canada’s Membership Development & Programs Committee, and the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce Physician Recruitment Committee.
